ENTRY RULES AND PROCEDURES

NEW YORK - A number of changes have been announced in the Entry Rules and Procedures for the Westminster Kennel Club's 131st Annual All Breed Dog Show scheduled for February 12-13, 2007 at Madison Square Garden.

The entry fee has increased to $75 for the breed competition. As has been the case since 1992, the entry is limited to 2,500 dogs, all of which must be AKC champions. There is still no fee for Junior Showmanship for the first dog.

Credit cards will no longer be accepted for payment of entry fees. All fees must be paid via check or money order in U.S. funds.

There is also a new policy regarding duplicate entries. Duplicate entries and fees received into processing prior to the closing of entries (i.e., prior to the 2500th breed entry closing the entry) will not be returned. A portion of these proceeds will be donated to charity. Entries and fees received into processing after the close of entries will be returned.

All entries must be submitted only via First Class Mail. This is defined as USPS postage of $.39 (or corresponding foreign Regular First Class Postage) and no signature required for delivery. Priority, Certified, Registered, Overnight mail or delivery, Internet/Online, FAX, Dial-N-Entry®, Courier, walk-ins or entries handed in at shows are not acceptable or permitted.

Owners and agents making entries for Westminster are urged to read the following summary of key points and the official rules and requirements in the premium list carefully, particularly those sections regarding invitations, eligibility and mailing and delivery requirements.

SUMMARY OF KEY POINTS:

As in the past, to be eligible for entry in the breed competition at Westminster, a dog must be an AKC champion.

INVITATIONS TO PRE-ENTER: The Top Five dogs (AKC Champions) in breed standings in each breed and variety for the period January 1, 2006 - October 31, 2006 will be invited to pre-enter in advance of the regular closing date. A listing of the Top Five dogs to be invited will be posted at www.westminsterkennelclub.org and www.infodog.com as soon as final statistics are received from AKC.

The Top Five Invitation entry form may be returned at any time after the Top Five List is posted OR at any time after the invitation has been received by the owner. In all cases, this entry form must be returned by 3 PM ET, Wednesday, December 6, 2006. NOTE: Invitation entries are received at a different Post Office Box than the general entry but are subject to the same rules regarding delivery methods outlined below.

SUBMISSION DATES FOR OTHER ENTRIES: Best of Breed/Variety entries for dogs that do not qualify for invitations may be made only via first class mail at any time beginning November 17, 2006, to be received no later than 3 PM ET Friday, December 8, 2006. Non-Invitation Best of Breed/Variety entries postmarked prior to November 17, 2006 will be returned. No entries other than Invitations, Juniors exhibiting invited dogs or Junior Showmanship Only, will be processed prior to 8 AM ET on Friday, December 8, 2006. NOTE: First class mail is defined as: Regular First Class Postage of $.39 in the U.S. and/or corresponding Regular First Class Postage of foreign country of residence. No entry will be accepted that requires a signature for delivery.

SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES: There is a limit of one entry per envelope. Envelopes with more than one entry will be returned. All entries must be accompanied by a check or money order for the entry fee. Credit cards are not accepted. Checks or money orders returned for any reason will cause the entry to be removed from the show with no recourse.

MAILING ADDRESSES: Entries for Invitation or Invitation with Junior as an additional class, or Junior Only entries must be mailed to PO Box 22107, Greensboro, NC 27420. All other entries must be mailed to PO Box 22067, Greensboro, NC 27420.

DUPLICATE ENTRIES: Duplicate entries and fees received into processing prior to the closing of entries, or prior to the limit being reached if reached prior to the closing date and time, will not be returned. A portion of these proceeds will be donated to charity. Entries and fees received into processing after the close of entries, or after the limit is reached if reached prior to the closing date and time, will be returned.

OWNER/AGENT: All entries must be signed by and submitted by an actual owner or the duly authorized agent of the owner(s) who is the person responsible for the dog at the show.

ENTRY ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: All entries that include a valid e-mail address on their entry form will receive an e-mail Notice of Receipt of Entry pending validation of their championships and proper registration. A Notice of Receipt of Entry will also be mailed First Class via the U.S. Postal Service.

JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP

JUNIOR SHOWMANSHIP is a limited class. Juniors may enter the competition if they have placed first in 10 or more Open Classes (with competition) in Junior Showmanship at AKC Licensed or Member shows held between December 5, 2005 and November 27, 2006, and who were at least 9 years old and under 18 years old at the time of each qualifying win.

BENCHING

The benching of dogs is an integral part of the dog show, the importance of which cannot be overstated. Dogs are received only at the exhibitors' entrance at 33rd St. & Pennsylvania Plaza between 7th and 8th Avenues, beginning at 6 AM each day. Dogs must arrive by 11:30 AM on the day they are judged. Dogs arriving after that time will not be admitted. All dogs must be removed from the benches by 11:30 PM. Tuesday evening to the designated holding area. Breeds to be judged on Tuesday will not be admitted until 9 p.m. Monday evening.

Dogs and equipment cannot be removed from the show either day before 8 p.m. All dogs must be removed from Madison Square Garden by midnight Tuesday. There will be separate areas for grooming or crates. Stacking of crates on breed benching will not be permitted, except in the case of Toy Breeds. Crates will not be permitted in any aisle, at any ring or on any floor space. All crates must be on the benching or in grooming area. Tack units must be on the bench.

CITY LAWS

The Director of the Bureau of Animal Affairs of New York City requires all dogs entering the City of New York to be accompanied by a Health Certificate issued by a licensed Veterinarian no more than seven days prior to arrival in the City. New York City law states that people exercising dogs are responsible for cleaning up the feces. The law is strictly enforced and punishable by a $100 fine.

By entering this show, all participants agree to the following: All rights to advertise, promote, publicize, televise or otherwise exploit the show are vested in The Westminster Kennel Club and its assigns, including the use of the names, likenesses, voices or biographical matter of all dogs, owners, handlers, and kennels participating in the show. Madison Square Garden prohibits the use of video recording devices at this show.
