Karen Lefrak's Best In Show Debuts For Westminster

Best-in-Show.jpgEveryone loves a winner. Karen LeFrak celebrates the hard work and dedication needed to raise a prize-winning show dog in her new children's book, Best in Show illustrated by Andrew Day (Walker & Company, February 2011, $16.99 hardcover). Publishing just in time for the Valentine's Day start of the Westminster Kennel Club's 135th Annual Dog Show-the country's premier event for dog lovers-Best in Show is the story of a young girl who raises a champion.

Abby loves the fluffy white poodles her aunt Nancy helps breed, and she's thrilled to be there when Jewel delivers her puppies. Abby names one Gem and is sure she's special. Abby helps to train and groom Gem, and Gem helps Abby learn how to be a first-class handler. When the day of the big dog show arrives, can Abby and Gem prove that they have what it takes to be named Best in Show?

Author Karen LeFrak writes from experience. She breeds and shows champion poodles, including two-time Westminster Non-Sporting Group winner Ch Ale Kai Mikimoto on Fifth, better known as Miki. Miki earned 88 Best in Show titles and was America's number one Standard Poodle for three consecutive years. Ms. LeFrak (www.karenlefrak.com) is donating her proceeds from the sales of Best in Show to the American Kennel Club Canine Health Foundation and Take the Lead.
