Huge Numbers For Westminster 135

Social media efforts were a phenomenal success in creating a two-screen experience for viewers (computers and TVs) and seems to have increased the television audience as well for the 135th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show February 14-15.

  • Television: The viewing audience on Tuesday evening on USA Network was the highest in five years, with an increase of 66% in key demographics and a total audience of more than 3.5 million, a 56% increase over 2010 and the largest Tuesday night viewing audience since 2005.

  • Facebook: As of Sunday, Feb. 20, Westminster had 72,090 users on its Facebook page (www.facebook.com/wkcdogshow) with 1.7 million daily/post views. On Feb. 11, the WKC Facebook user number was 32,000, so it more than doubled during the show.

  • Twitter: The 2,716 Followers on Twitter as of Feb. 20, more than doubled from its 1,360 Followers on Jan. 14.

  • Web site: For the two days of the dog show (Monday, Feb. 14 and Tuesday, Feb 15) and the day after (Wednesday, Feb. 16), www.westminsterkennelclub.org delivered 10.2 million page views, 1.04 million visits, and 933 thousand video streams.
