WKC Congratulates DWAA Honorees
The Westminster Kennel Club congratulates Ranny Green, a member of the Westminster Press Room Team upon his induction into the Hall of Fame of the Dog Writers Association of America. The Hall of Fame was established in 2005 for lifetime achievement and distinguished contributions that benefit all dogs, the dog sports, and those who care for them. Induction is based on the individual's contribution to the welfare of dogs through writing, broadcasting, photography or art, plus encouragement, assistance and mentoring of others in the dog world.
Green is a longtime (1972-2008) Seattle Times feature writer, copy editor and pets columnist and multi winner of DWAA Maxwell Awards in newspaper column and feature categories and in 2012 was the DWAA web feature writing winner. He spent nearly two weeks in Slidell, La., in 2005, writing stories about the work of Noah's Wish, the nation's premier pet disaster relief organization and performing the same duties assigned to all volunteers there. "It changed my life," he said, "and directed me into volunteering with pet rescue in retirement." He is a former DWAA vice president and president and serves on the board of directors of Noah's Wish and Angel on a Leash, along with being a member of the Westminster Kennel Club media team. He writes a monthly feature and dog-book reviews for www.seattlekennelclub.org, a first-of-its kind club web site with appeal to a general audience.
Also inducted was Eve Adamson, a New York Times bestselling author and award-winning freelance writer who has written, co-written, or ghost-written over 50 books. She is a six-time Maxwell Medallion winner and has covered the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show for various media organizations for many years.
These inductees join an illustrious list including Roger Caras, Mordecai Siegal, Anne Rogers Clark, Steve Dale and many more legendary names. The Hall of Fame awards are announced annually at the Dog Writers Association of America banquet held each February the evening before the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
