Mrs. Barbara Alderman

Breed Judge

Location: Moon Township, PA

Mrs. Barbara Alderman bought her first dog – an Afghan Hound – as a pet. She was encouraged by the breeders to take her to some shows, she finished her championship, and thus began a lifetime in dogs. She bred and showed Afghan Hounds for a number of years, and then became an assistant professional handler in a career that lasted 28 years. Mrs. Alderman eventually applied to judge and today is licensed to judge all breeds. She judges more than 100 shows per year in the United States. She has also judged in Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia and Japan. This is her third assignment at Westminster.
