Hound Group Judge

Polly Smith started in dogs at an early age as her neighbor had a Chow Chow puppy that she let her show a few times. She attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg, VA. After college and marriage to Robert Smith she returned to the dog show world with German Shepherd Dogs.
When the Smiths moved to Kalamazoo, MI they became American Foxhound fanciers as well. They bred three generations of breeder/owner/handled Best In Show and five generations of group-winning foxhounds. A number of their American Foxhounds also performed well in field competitions. Along with the American Foxhounds they bred Welsh Terriers. Mrs. Smith’s a co-author of a book about the American Foxhound. Mrs. Smith began her judging career in 1978 and became an all-breed judge in 2007. She has judged on five continents. This is Mrs. Smith’s third judging assignment at Westminster.
