Stump, Saks Celebrate WKC

The inimitable Stump, Westminster's reigning Best In Show winner from 2009, posed for pictures and handed out mini-posters with his paw print to his fans and Saks customers at the flagship store in New York on the Friday before Westminster.

The beautiful, golden-liver Sussex Spaniel was the headliner for a special pre-Westminster event held on the 8th floor at Saks, in a department featuring the Saks "must-have" doggie accessories.

This was the second year of this special event. Saks was once again featured prominently in the Westminster commemorative poster for the year, and for the third year had a special display window on 50th Street with a Westminster theme.

A few Westminster entries and Saks customers' dogs competed in three special categories and were judged by Scott Sommer, the handler and co-owner of Stump. Scott selected winners for Best Personality, Best Hair and Best Style. Special prizes included a two-night stay at the Ritzy Canine Carriage House. Ten per cent of the sales from that department at Saks went to benefit the ASPCA.

Earlier that day, Stump also made a "personal" appearance at a Capital One Bank on Park Avenue during the lunch hour, greeting customers and fans and posing for pictures with all.
