LAKELAND TERRIER

The Lakeland Terrier originated in the Lake District of Northern England. He is one of the oldest working terrier breeds still in use today. His diverse ancestors include the now extinct Old English Black and Tan, the Dandie Dinmont, Bedlington and Border Terriers. The Lakeland has a hard, wiry body coat, soft undercoat and plenty of furnishings on his muzzle and legs. His color variations include both solid colors and tan or wheaten with darker saddle markings. Gay and impish, the Lakeland can be a charming companion. However, training a Lakeland requires patience, consistency and a good sense of humor.
