Mrs. Karen Mammano

MS. KAREN MAMMANO of Webster, New York grew up the sport of dogs. Her mother was a longtime Golden Retriever breeder (one of their dogs, Liberty, went to President Ford in the White House). Together, they bred Goldens; her mother showed in conformation while Karen showed in Junior Showmanship and Obedience. When she was 15 years old, she started working for dog handlers on weekends. At 18, Ms. Mammano started handling on her own and has done it ever since. She first went to Westminster at the age of 13, the first time that she qualified in for the Junior Showmanship competition and has attended every year but one since then (32 years). In her handling career, Mrs. Mammano has won Bests in Show from all seven groups, as well as going Best in Show at the World Dog Show in Portugal. This is her second judging assignment at Westminster.
