David A. Helming Bio
Dave Helming and his wife, Peggy, under the kennel prefix “Pouch Cove” breed Newfoundlands, Portuguese Water Dogs, and Norwich Terriers. In 2005, they were honored to have been selected as the AKC Breeder of the Year, after being chosen as the as the Working Group Breeder of the Year in 2002. Mr. Helming is an honorary member and past president of the Newfoundland Club of America (NCA). He served as the vice chairman of the NCA Charitable Trust Management Board and currently serves as the NCA’s Delegate to the American Kennel Club. In addition to the Westminster Kennel Club, he is a member of Somerset Hills Kennel Club, Westchester Kennel Club, Kennel Club of Philadelphia and the Morris & Essex Kennel Club. He has served these clubs in various capacities including president, director, show chairman, and treasurer. Mr. Helming is also an AKC-approved judge for Newfoundlands and Junior Showmanship and is a member of the AKC Political Action Committee. Retired from the Public Service Enterprise Group, Mr. Helming served in various senior managerial positions for 38 years.
