Ms. Newcomb of Santa Fe, NM has been in purebred dogs since the early 1960’s. Starting her career in obedience with a Weimaraner, she owner handled many breeds including Miniature Poodles, Shetland Sheepdogs and, finding great success with Pomeranians early on. She won the Toy Group at Westminster in 1971 with her Pomeranian, Ch. Duke’s Lil Red Baron of O’Kala. She steered that dog to sixteen Best in Show wins and to Best of Breed at the American Pomeranian Club’s National Specialty two times. Throughout her lifelong involvement in the sport, she has bred and exhibited German Shepherd Dogs, Anatolian Shepherds, Papillons, Pointers, and Chihuahuas. Ms. Newcomb was first licensed to judge in the late 1970’s and took a hiatus while involved in the German Shepherd Dog Ch. Covy-Tucker Hill’s Manhattan’s spectacular career. She is now licensed to judge the Toy, Herding and Non-Sporting groups and several breeds in the other groups. She judges internationally and is conducts judge’s education seminars in many breeds. This is her third judging assignment at Westminster.
