CANINE CELEBRATION DAY

SATURDAY, MAY 11, 2024: DAYTIME 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

  • 11th Annual Masters Agility Championship Preliminaries presented by Purina Pro Plan
    • Agility is a timed competition that tests a dog’s ability to complete an obstacle course following the commands of its handler. Purebred and All-American (mixed breed) dogs are eligible, to compete in 1 of 5 height classes and are judged on time and completion (minus faults) of the course.
  • 9th Annual Masters Obedience Championship presented by Purina Pro Plan
    • Obedience is a command-driven competition that tests a dog’s ability to comply with the asks of the handler. Commands can include a combination of sit, stay, jump, retrieve and scent discrimination. Purebred and All-American (mixed breed) dogs will compete to showcase the desired skills of a model dog.
  • Dock Diving at Westminster 
    • Dock Diving is a sport in which dogs run the length of a dock and leap as far out into the water as possible to catch their favorite toy. The competition is based on height or distance. 
  • Breed Showcase
    • Guests will have the chance to meet and learn about an abundance of incredible dog breeds.
  • Dog Sports Demonstration Ring
    • Demonstration schedule will be available early 2024.
  • Dog Show 101 Presentation
    • Learn what is happening inside the dog show ring. Presenters explain what the judges are examining, why the handlers trot the dogs in certain patterns and the purpose of a dog show.

SATURDAY, MAY 11, 2024: EVENING 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

  • 11th Annual Masters Agility Championship Finals presented by Purina Pro Plan
    • Watch the top 10 teams from each height class in the preliminary rounds as they compete for the coveted title of Masters Agility Champion.

148th ANNUAL WESTMINSTER KENNEL CLUB DOG SHOW - DAY 1

MONDAY, MAY 13, 2024: DAYTIME 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

  • Breed Judging (Hound, Toy, Non-Sporting and Herding breeds)
    • The dogs entered at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show each compete within their own breed to be chosen as Best of their Breed/Variety. There are 212 AKC-recognized breeds and varieties. The respective judge examines all the dogs and chooses four placements, first through fourth with only the Group winner advancing. Once selected as Best of Breed/Variety, dogs advance to compete within their AKC-recognized Group: Hound, Toy, Non-Sporting, Herding, Sporting, Working, and Terrier.
  • Junior Showmanship Preliminaries
    • Junior Showmanship is a competition assessing the handling skills of children 9-18 years of age independent of the traits of the dog. The competition promotes proper training and care to prepare future generations for responsible dog ownership, sportsmanship, and future success in the sport.

MONDAY, MAY 13, 2024: EVENING 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

  • Group Judging (Hound, Toy, Non-Sporting, and Herding Groups)
    • The winning dogs across the four Groups compete for the chance to win the ultimate prize, Best in Show.

TUESDAY, MAY 14, 2024: DAYTIME 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

  • Breed Judging (Sporting, Working and Terrier breeds)
    • The dogs entered at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show each compete within their own breed to be chosen as Best of their Breed/Variety. There are 212 AKC-recognized breeds and varieties. The respective judge examines all the dogs and chooses four placements, first through fourth with only the Group winner advancing. Once selected as Best of Breed/Variety, dogs advance to compete within their AKC-recognized Group: Hound, Toy, Non-Sporting, Herding, Sporting, Working, and Terrier.

TUESDAY, MAY 14, 2024: EVENING 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm

  • Junior Showmanship Finals
    • Each Junior Handler finalist at Westminster receives a scholarship that they can put towards tuition at the college or technical school of their choice in the future. The Best Junior Handler award winner receives a $10,000 scholarship, with the second-place finisher receiving a $5,000 scholarship, the third-place finisher receiving a $4,000 scholarship, and the fourth-place finisher receiving a $3,000 scholarship. The remaining four finalists each take home a $500 scholarship.
  • Group Judging (Sporting, Working and Terrier Groups)
    • The winning dogs across the three Groups compete for the chance to win the ultimate prize, Best in Show.
  • Best in Show
    • The seven breed group winners will compete in this final round. The judge will examine finalists, first naming the Reserve Best in Show winner and then revealing their selection for the ultimate prize.
