Meet the Basset Hound

The easily recognizable basset hound is a long, low scenthound of ancient French ancestry. He is persistent on the trail and has been used mostly on rabbits. His majestic head, long velvety ears, wrinkled brow and dark eyes lend him that soulful expression, and his gentle nature makes him a great companion and much sought-after family dog.
